No matter who and where we are in life, many of us have certain expectations regarding different aspects of our lives. Just as how most things are interconnected in life, expectations are interwoven with hopes and dreams and, maybe even, childhood fantasies. Having expectations can bring us hope and lead us to continually strive for what we feel is best for us (i.e. career, partner). However, by having expectations, we must also be aware that some may never become realized, or in the way we imagined. It is very likely that reality may at times fall short. When that occurs, having certain expectations can lead us to feel discouraged and disappointed.
