Are you noticing any of these changes or behaviors in your child?
How many of those things did you check off regarding your child? "Childhood" is frequently painted as though it is a blissful and carefree time. However, growing up is an active process that is frequently filled with challenges and new experiences. It is through these challenges and experiences that will ultimately shape them into the adults they become. While some experiences can be fun and enlightening, others can lead children and adolescents to feel anxious, fearful, sad, overwhelmed, frustrated, disappointed, hurt, and every other emotion out there. Sometimes, children and teenagers don't know how to adequately handle the stressor(s) in their lives, because it might be something new and unexpected, causing them to feel overwhelmed and uncertain of what to do. They may react in expected and unexpected ways, often times leaving parents and loved ones feeling concerned and confused. And at times, through no fault of their own, no matter how hard parents or loved ones try, things just seem to be getting worse for their child(ren) and/or family life.
Growing up can be hard. Sometimes, it can be REALLY hard. For the child AND the parent(s)! Contact me to see if I can help!Whether you're a teen exploring your options for support, or you're the parent of a child or teen in need of help... I’m so glad you're exploring and searching for what you/your child needs! I have had more than 10 years of experience interacting and working with children, teens, and young adults. I have been a tutor/mentor to elementary and middle school children, a behavior management consultant working with children diagnosed with Autism, a therapist providing therapy to minors ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade, and a therapist to young adults and adults. I have also had the wonderful opportunity to be trained in various evidence-based practice therapy models that are specifically directed towards the treatment of minors. Unlike in TV shows or movies where someone sits/lays on a couch while talking to a therapist, therapy with children and teens looks quite different, which can sometimes surprise not only the minor but the parent/caregiver as well. The belief when working with a minor, especially a younger child, is that play is a child's work. Play is how children, and sometimes teens, process the things that are occurring or have occurred. In therapy, I work AND play with my clients, as we explore and process how things may be impacting them. When it benefits my client’s treatment, I involve my client’s loved ones in treatment as well! I truly believe that when parents, caregivers, and/or family members are involved in the child's treatment, it can create lasting change in not just the child but in the relationship between the child and the individual(s) involved. I am dedicated to helping minors and their families overcome the difficulties that they face. Feel free to contact me via email, phone, or my Contact Me page to schedule a free 15-minute consultation so that we can explore what can be done to improve things for you and/or your child!
