© Michelle Chan The Evolution of Psychotherapy occurs once every 4 years, and this year it took place from Wed., December 11 to Sun., December 15, at the Anaheim Convention Center, Hilton Hotel, and Marriott Hotel in Anaheim, California. I was absolutely thrilled and elated to be able to take part and attend the conference for one day this time around. It was an experience unlike any other I have ever had! I felt so fortunate and honored to be able to directly learn from and hear the voices of some of the greats (i.e. Cloé Madanes, Daniel Siegel, John & Julie Gottman, Sue Johnson, Derald Wing Sue, etc.) in the mental health field. On top of that, to be surrounded by thousands of others who are in the same field, left me feeling connected and supported.
Since the location of the conference was extremely close to Disneyland, I couldn't help but think that this conference to me was like Disneyland to children, nothing in the world could have beat it. Being at the conference and listening to all these well-known therapists speak about their work and their theories made me feel "at home." There is no doubt in my mind that the mental health field is where my passion is and where I belong. "To find out what one is fitted to do, and to secure an opportunity to do it, is the key to happiness. " -John Dewey
